Who this is for
College Administrator
The course sections report lists every scheduled section for the terms you choose, with its instructor, meetings, capacity, categories, fees and deadlines. Run it to check a term as a whole, for example to confirm that every section at a partner high school has an instructor before registration opens.
Steps
- Open Reports.
- In Choose Report, select Course Sections.
- Under Select terms, choose one or more terms. An asterisk marks the terms that are currently active.
- Narrow the report to particular high schools or a high school group if you want to. Leave the selection empty to include them all.
- Click Generate. The report builds in the background and the page keeps you posted while it runs.
- When it finishes, click Download to save the file.
What success looks like
A spreadsheet file downloads, named for your college or the high school you filtered to, with one row per section and a column for each piece of section detail.
Reading the deadline columns
Four columns carry the dates that govern when a student may leave a section:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Drop Start Date and Drop End Date | The window in which a student may drop this section. |
| Withdraw Start Date and Withdraw End Date | The window in which a student may withdraw from this section. |
These four columns read the dates set on the section itself, which you add under Action Dates when editing a course section. If your college relies on the deadlines set at the term level instead, the columns are blank: the report does not substitute a term's dates for a section that has none of its own. There is no add-period column.
The report recognises an action date by its description, and it matches on the single words drop and withdraw. A description like "drop date" or "student withdraw" holds the dates you meant but the report will not find it, so keep the description to the one word.
If this doesn't work
- The four deadline columns are empty for sections you expected dates on. Either those sections have no dates of their own, or the dates are there under a longer description than drop or withdraw. Open the section, check Action Dates, and rename the description to the single word if it reads as something else.
- Course Sections is not in the Choose Report list. This report is for college staff. If you are signed in with a high school or district account you will not see it, and a College Administrator at your college can run it for you.
If the report fails to build, or a column holds something you cannot explain, submit a request to the Help Desk with the report name, the terms you chose, and the section you were looking at.
