Step-by-step help for setting up and running dual enrollment.

Set a high school's payment policy

Who this is for

College Administrator

A high school's payment policy decides who is asked to pay for its students' registrations: the student, or someone else your college confirms afterward. It sits on the partnership record, so it applies to every registration from that school. Read on to set it and see what each value does.

Steps

  1. Open High Schools and select the high school. The list shows each school's current policy, so you can check before you open one.
  2. Set PAYMENT POLICY to the value you want.
  3. Save the record.

Warning: this takes effect for every registration from that school that has not reached its payment step yet, not only new ones. A student part-way through registration can be asked for payment under the new policy.

What each value does

Policy

What happens

Student

The student side is asked to pay. New partnerships start here.

Student/High School

The student is still asked for the full amount. DualEnroll does not split a charge, so any arrangement with the high school happens outside it.

High School

Nobody is asked for a card. A step asks your staff to confirm the school covered the registration.

A value added for your college

Behaves like High School: no card is requested and your staff confirm the payment. Colleges use these for districts, scholarships, and no-pay arrangements.

What success looks like

The High Schools list shows the new policy for that school, and the next registration from it follows the matching path: a payment task for the student, or a confirmation task for your staff.

If this doesn't work

  • The value you need is not in the menu. The menu holds the three built-in values plus any added for your college, and there is no self-serve screen for adding one. submit a request to the Help Desk with the name you want.
  • A student is still asked to pay after you changed the policy. Their registration had already passed its payment step, which reads the policy once. Ask the Help Desk about the individual registration rather than changing the policy again.
  • Students from one school are being charged different ways. Check whether their courses are recorded as contracted courses, which is a separate per-course arrangement that overrides who pays for those courses.
