Step-by-step help for setting up and running dual enrollment.

Set a course section's fee

Who this is for

College Administrator

Requires course fee editing enabled for your college

A section's fee is what a student is charged when they register for it, which is how two sections of the same course can cost different amounts. You add one amount per fee type on the section itself. Read on to add a fee, change an amount, and remove one.

Steps

  1. Open Courses, select the course, then select the section you want to price.
  2. In the Course Fees panel, select Add.
  3. Choose a Fee Type, enter the Fee Amount, and save. The amount must be under $10,000.
  4. To change an amount, select the fee type's name in the Course Fees panel, edit Fee Amount, and save.

Warning: changing an amount changes what unpaid registrations will be charged, including ones already in progress that have not reached their payment step. Payments already captured are not adjusted.

  5. To remove a fee, open it from the panel and select Delete.

What success looks like

The fee is listed in the Course Fees panel with its amount, and students registering for that section are asked for it at their payment step.

How the right fee gets picked

Fees on the section

What the student is charged

One fee

That amount, whatever fee type it carries. This is the common setup and the reason a single mispriced fee affects everyone on the section.

Several fees

The amount whose fee type matches the registration. Colleges that price this way add a workflow step where the high school counselor picks the fee type for the student.

No fees

Nothing. The registration has no amount to collect, so the payment step has nothing to ask for.

If this doesn't work

  • There is no Add control beside Course Fees. Fee editing is enabled per college; without it the panel shows existing fees read-only. submit a request to the Help Desk to have it turned on.
  • You cannot add a second amount for the same fee type. A section holds one amount per type. Edit the existing fee instead, or add a different type.
  • The amount is rejected. It must be a number, zero or greater, and under $10,000. Enter digits only, with no currency symbol.
  • The fee type you want is not in the menu. The menu lists your college's fee types, so the type has to exist before you can price a section with it.
