Step-by-step help for setting up and running dual enrollment.

Hold registrations until a term opens

Requires a registration workflow with a holding step

Colleges that take registrations before a term formally opens need somewhere to park them. A holding step keeps early registrations waiting until the registration window opens, and lets you release everything that has queued up in one action. For how terms are structured, see Understanding academic terms.

Before you start

Holding requires your college's registration workflow to include a holding step; DualEnroll sets that up during implementation. If you are not sure whether your workflow has one, ask the Help Desk. The term's registration window is the date range that configuration reads.

Setting the registration window

  1. Go to College Admin → Academic Terms and click the term's name.
  2. In the custom date fields area, type registration into the Name a custom date field, pick the START and END dates, and save. The form lists REGISTRATION START and REGISTRATION END.

While the window is closed, new registrations wait at the holding step instead of proceeding.

Releasing held registrations

  1. From the term's edit page, open Held Registrations. Each holding step in your workflow shows a panel with its held count, broken down by high school.
  2. Warning: Releasing sends the registrations forward in the workflow, which can notify students, parents and counselors on the next steps. Release when you mean to.

  3. Select the high schools to release, or select all of them, and choose Release. The release runs in the background and the panel shows its progress and a report when it finishes.

What success looks like

The panel's held count drains and the release report lists what moved. Released registrations continue through the workflow from the holding step.

If this doesn't work

  • "A release is already in progress for this holding step": one release runs at a time per holding step. Wait for the running release's report, then release again if anything is still held.
