Requires the contracted courses option
When a high school agrees to pay tuition for a course, students from that school should see that before they choose it. Recording the agreement against the course puts a payer on it, so the Course Finder can show who pays.
Before you start
- Your college has the contracted courses option turned on. It is off by default: contact the DualEnroll Help Desk to have it enabled.
- Your partner high schools are already set up as high school partnerships for your college. The checkbox list is built from those partnerships, so the section will not appear at all until at least one real partner high school exists.
- You know which courses each high school has agreed to cover. Agreements are recorded per contracted course, not per section, so one entry covers every section of that course wherever it is taught.
Steps
- Go to Courses in your college workspace and open the course you want to record an agreement for.
- Click Edit.
- Scroll to CONTRACTED HIGH SCHOOLS, below the Course Programs section. It lists your partner high schools alphabetically in a scrolling box.
- Check each high school that has agreed to pay for this course. Leave the rest unchecked.
- Save the course.
- Repeat for every course that has an agreement. There is no bulk option, so plan for one pass through your contracted list.
What success looks like
Re-opening the course shows the high schools you selected still checked. A student from one of those high schools now sees a green Paid by [your high school] banner at the top of that course's detail page, and can use the BY PAYEE filter in the Course Finder to see only the courses their school covers. Your changes take effect immediately.
To remove an agreement, uncheck the high school and save. Unchecking every high school and saving clears the course's list entirely.
Note: Recording an agreement is informational only. It does not change who may register for the course, or block anyone. It tells students who pays.
Warning: Removing a high school partnership also deletes its course agreements. If you end a partnership with a high school, every contracted course entry for that school disappears from every course, and there is no record of what it had been. Export the Contracted Courses report first if you may need the list later.
If this doesn't work
- There is no CONTRACTED HIGH SCHOOLS section on the Edit Course form. Two things have to be true. The contracted courses option must be on for your college, and your college must have at least one partner high school that is a real school rather than a placeholder. If you have no partner high schools set up yet, set those up first and the section will appear.
- The section is there but a high school you expect is missing from the list. Only your college's partner high schools appear, and placeholder entries are left out. Add the high school as a partner first.
- You recorded agreements but students see nothing. The banner and the filter are personal to each student: a student sees the banner only on courses their own high school covers. Check that the student's record shows the right high school, and that the high school you checked is the one they belong to.
- Your selections seem to have disappeared. The most common cause is that the high school partnership was removed, which clears its agreements everywhere. Otherwise, confirm the course was saved rather than navigated away from.
